It’s time to ditch the @xtra.co.nz email address
Invariably, when people come to me for their first website, they contact me on either a Gmail or Xtra email address. These are fine, for individuals, but a professional business should have a professional email address and since you’ll be getting a domain name for your website, it makes sense to utilise it for your emails too.
I have a BSc in Computer Science and over 14 years of industry experience ranging from software support, hardware installations and infrastructure design. All of these experiences give me an unprecedented ability to help your business with more than just your website. I can set up new emails and manage the migration from your old provider, no worries at all.
I’m always asked if migrating from one email provider to another means you’ll lose all your old emails. The answer is generally no, you’ll keep them all and your folder structures, although if you are still using really old software, like the now obsolete Outlook Express, there might be a few issues.
I use Google Workspace for all my client’s emails as their service is so well integrated into all the devices we use, it makes it a sinch for my clients to add their new emails to their phones themselves. I also set up the account in your name, so you are billed directly by Google which means no middle man (me) clipping the ticket each month.
Once we have migrated your old emails, I can set up an auto-forward on your old address so anything sent there will automatically arrive at your new address. Over time, you’ll find people will stop using your old address altogether.
